Do People See God's favour On You & Get Frightened?

Psalm 14

Written by King David – For the Choir

1 A stupid (person) say inwardly, “(There is) no God.”  They have gone to ruin and do repulsive (things.  There’s) no one (who) does good. 2 The Lord looked down from heaven at mankind to see if there were (any people who) understand or look to God.

3 (But), they have all turned away together and are morally depraved.  Not one does good, not even one! 4 Don’t all (who) make trouble know?  (Those people who) eat my people as if they were eating bread and don’t cry out to the Lord (– don’t they know)?

5 They’re there in terror (because) God is with the generation (of people who do what is) right.

6 You (want to) put the poor and needy (person’s) advice to shame, (but) the Lord is their shelter.

7 Let[1] Israel’s rescue (come out of) Zion (that is from Jerusalem)! (When) the Lord brings back (those who are) prisoners (then) Jacob will be happy and Israel will full of joy.

Application

God says it’s stupid to say “There’s no God!”

This makes sense because I can’t know everything.  Even if I didn’t think God existed (which I obviously do), the most intelligent thing I could say would be, “Out of everything I have seen and learned so far, I haven’t seen any evidence that proves to me that there is a God.”

The issue is that, when there is no God, there is no reason to conform to the moral law that we have.  If God doesn’t exist, sin doesn’t exist.  If sin doesn’t exist, how can anything that I do be wrong or right except in my own eyes?

However, despite what society might say and try to do, there is evidence of God.  He is with those people who seek him and live his way.  The ungodly see God’s favour on the lives of believers and they are frightened because they can tell that God is with them and they can’t explain it.

The godless want to ignore the rights and claims of those who believe, but God helps me in time of trouble and I cannot be destroyed.  God will be my refuge.  He will save me.  God will deliver me and those who call on his name, which will bring great joy to all who trust in him.

Prayer

Father, thank you that you have revealed yourself to me.  There is no one like you and nothing that has any power that can come against you and win.  Father, I ask that you fight for me.  I need your Spirit to fight against the powers and principalities, to bring your salvation to people and have victory over all that would try to bring me down.  I need your provision to meet my financial needs and to enable me to do all that you want me to do.

Lord I am yours and I want to serve you.
